Specialty Food Foundation Challenges Industry to Embrace Hunger Relief in September

The Specialty Food Foundation (SFF) is inviting the specialty food community to join a friendly “East vs. West” challenge to address food insecurity. The Foundation’s Embrace Hunger Relief Month and Specialty Food Association (SFA) member challenge run throughout Feeding America’s Hunger Action Month.

Initially launched as a single day in 2014, Embrace Hunger Relief (EHR) received a strong response from the specialty food industry, expanding to a week in 2015, and then two months in 2016, one spring and one fall. The most recent campaign, in April 2017, resulted in 18,127 pounds and $2,340 donated to local charities, with 224 volunteer hours served. (By the way, the West clobbered the East.) SFA members and others can document and share their EHR efforts with the hashtag #EHRM17.
